Designing a Room: Yard Sale Style

It’s not unusual to see drivers pulling over on the side of the road to look for bargains on someone’s front lawn during summer months in New England. Once a year, we host a sprawling tag sale of our own under huge tents set up in both the Designer Bath and Beverly Depot parking lot. Our friends from Moynihan Lumber, Landry and Arcari, and Lucia Lighting join in the fun. For one day only, showroom items and overstock inventory from all four locations are offered at super low price points. Deals are everywhere!

“After hearing so many good things about it, we decided to check out the 23rd Annual Yard Sale at the Depot in Beverly. What a treat! All four businesses sold exceptional items at incredible prices.” – Linda Hentschel of i-Design Interiors

We have regular yard sale customers who plan their home improvements around this annual event (this year was our 23rd Beverly Yard Sale!) With so much to choose from, the difficult part is deciding what to take home. Some of our seasoned shoppers take the following approach ...

1. Build from the ground up. Find a large inspiration piece and then shop the rest of the sale for bargains to match it.

2. Bring home what you love. Chances are good you will find a special place for it.

Many took home bling from Lucia Lighting.

3. Give something new a try. At yard sale prices, it’s worth the minimal investment.

Benjamin Moore paint samples were 5 for $1 under the Moynihan Lumber tent.
What a great way to test lots of color swatches at once!

4. Plan ahead. Is there a room in your home that you would like to tackle? Start with a low priced sale item then shop later for the rest. By saving money at the beginning of the project there is more in the budget later for finishing touches.

(FYI: There is still time to save at Designer Bath: our showroom sale ends Monday, June 24th!)

5. Have fun! Shopping a sale is a lot like a treasure hunt. You never know what you will discover, but you have to pull over to find the real gems.

Thanks goes to everyone who stopped by and made this year’s Beverly Yard Sale a great success! Special appreciation goes to the team from 92.5 The River who provided cool tunes to shop by, plus music giveaways. We hope to see you all again next year for more bargain-hunting-fun under the tents!

Expect the unexpected ...

At Designer Bath, we like to say that a trip to our showroom will “awaken your imagination.” For our first post, I’d like to take you on a virtual tour.

Innovative by design ...

Opened in the 1980’s, our Beverly, Massachusetts showroom has always represented the best of the best. What began as Salem Plumbing Supply – which has served members of the plumbing and heating trades for over 65 years – later became the first plumbing showroom on the North Shore. Providing consumers with the ability to research their choices with the help of showroom professionals was a new way to do business. Today it is the standard, and we are proud to have brought this type of visual resource to our customers.

The world at your fingertips ...

At Designer Bath we search the world over for beautifully crafted, superbly functional plumbing fixtures that add the finishing touch to any bath or kitchen. But these hard working pieces are more than good-looking. They are also designed with efficiency in mind. Water conservation is taken very seriously in this industry. We display a variety of options that suit the most eco-sensitive buyer.

Your questions answered ...

When you come into the showroom, expect to get straight answers on the benefits of a dual-flush, heated seats or other personal care bells and whistles. We are passionate about being able to provide plumbing products with state-of-the-art technology that offer the highest level of comfort on a daily basis. And we are not shy about sharing everything we know – just ask!

Showroom highlights ...

We can show you a lot of pretty pictures, but sometimes you just have to come in to experience the sparkle for yourself. Faucets that look like a work of art, shower heads that demand attention, sleek vanities and organic countertops. There are some unexpected surprises as well. Mirrors that allow you to prepare for your day while watching a favorite show, steam showers that soothe with aromatherapy, kitchen faucets with night lights, ceiling fans that are so quiet you have to lean in close to believe they’re working. We know that choosing materials for your home requires a lot of thought and confidence. The members of our showroom team are here to help guide you through the process. Their commitment to service and genuine enthusiasm are the main reasons so many people keep coming back.

Designer Bath is a third-generation family-owned business that was built on the principles of providing the best customer service with the best products. We invite you to stop by and enjoy browsing our 4,500 square foot Beverly showroom. You may find yourself inspired in ways you had not expected!
